It’s that time of year where most of us focus on the birth of Jesus. Let’s just admit it that some days, it’s hard! The hustle and bustle on top of our regular daily to-do’s can seem all too overwhelming in December. Not to mention that some of us have said good-bye to loved ones this year and the holidays are filled with sorrow and memories.
This season as we eagerly celebrate Christ’s birthday, my heart is also drawn to those who have fought hard battles this year. Some will live to see another birthday and some won’t. In the last couple of weeks I have had three cousins tragically killed in automobile crashes and said good-bye to a homeless man who breathed his last breath on the cold concrete in the middle of the night.
We should all treasure each birthday, it’s a gift. Who knows if we are even guaranteed another season to hustle and bustle?
Do you consider each year a treasure?
Our time here on this earth is so precious. Pause this season and reflect. Think of all you have to be thankful for and don’t let those grinch-like moments steal your joy. If this is something you struggle with, I highly recommend One Thousand Gifts: a dare to live fully right where you are by Ann VosKamp. Get it here.
Care for a little podcast about treasuring moments. You can listen in today here.
As you journey through the chaotic holiday season, treasure each moment.
Take long glimpses into each occasion and savor the chaos.
Yes, each day is a gift. Don’t let the busyness of this season steal the magnificence of that away. There just might be a day when the chaos is stripped and you are left craving the hectic moments.
May we remember that each year we are here on this sphere we know as Earth, we are blessed with life to love and serve others!
Ah yes, treasure those birthday’s! Jesus’ of course — but yours too!
Do you enjoy your birthday’s? Or do you make much fuss over them that you are another year older?
