31 Days of Living with Purpose {day 1~why am I here}

Welcome to 31 Days of Living with Purpose!

Begin with Day 1 below or feel free to jump to any post you’d like.

Mercy! It’s October 1. The day I declared I would begin living with purpose and write about it. Right about now, I’m in a panic. Although I have written devotionals for years, published books, and owned a piece of bloggy real estate for years, I’ve never blogged more than 16 times in one month. So this girl is going to have to up my game the next 31 days.

So you ask . . . Why am I doing this? What’s it for? How did this come about?

Well, once upon a time there was a site called The Nester and Chatting at the Sky, they were sisters and decided one year to write about 31 Days of change. It was such a hit that the next year she invited eight friends to do it with her. And then the silly sisters decided eight wasn’t enough. Check out all those who might be joining in this year HERE.

So, one day I happened upon the challenge and I was intrigued. I didn’t linger too long because that challenge seemed too big for me. But the challenge continued to haunt me. It actually plagued me. It wouldn’t let me go. I began to seek, search, and ask God a million questions: What do I have to share? What can I change? What am I passionate enough about to write for 31 days? Who? What? Where? When? and Why? These all seemed like great questions to me.

If you read my Meet Alene page, you quickly realize I’ve struggled with the age old question WHO IN THE WORLD AM I and WHAT AM I HERE TO DO? I’ve spent years wanting to be everybody else.  Their purposes seemed big and they were so together, perfect, and brilliant. As I’ve spoken to and taught women for years now, I’ve noticed I’m not the only one asking those questions. Thank goodness! Well, not that I’m glad you struggle to — it’s just great to have some company.

So for the next 31 days we’ll be sharing some thoughts on living with purpose. Why? Certainly, not because I have my act together and have it figured out, but because I feel the need to challenge and change myself to live more on purpose.

Why? Every action, every word, and every moment matters – so, let’s make it have purpose.

Join in and share your thoughts. In what ways do you struggle to know your purpose?

    Hi Alene!

First: thank you for your lovely comment and becoming a follower.
Secondly: Living with purpose..oh my, this is right up my alley as you have read. Right now, I've become a lounge lizard. I have no clue how it happened but of course we all know why it happened. The absence of my kiddo. She too graduated in 2011 and I'm struggling with it…so yes let's stick together and see our way thru this!!

I think you 31 series will enlighten my life as well!!!!

PS…I love CC, reminds me of my daddy–I'm orginially from SATX.

  • Emily

Awesome. Excited to read more from you, as well! :)

  • Laurie Wallin

Yes, yes, yes, and more yes! Love this theme and I'm gonna be back. As a life coach my whole deal with women is living intentionally and getting confident in who God's made us to be. Love the kindred spirit I've found here. Yay!

  • Jamie @ Six Bricks High

Yes! It all matters! Every single bit of it! Looking forward to your 31 Days!

Oh and I'm going to have to step up my bloggy game for this too :)

  • Tammy

My thoughts in "what is my purpose" are like the ocean waves! One week, I'm walk toward my purpose and the next week… I'm holding back!

Looking forward to reading your thoughts!

  • Monica

Living with purpose is a great topic to tackle!! I can't wait to read and learn from you!

  • Alene

Love the comments and the analogy of ocean waves. I can totally feel that too — on purpose, off purpose, on purpose, off purpose! Looking forward to sharing together!

  • Kimberly

A great topic! I certainly have wrestled with the question of who I am and what God desires for me to do with my life. Still have questions! :)

And I DEFINITELY wrestled over whether or not to write for 31 days. I'm with you…I don't think I have ever posted more than 16 times in a month. Honestly? It's been about 4 to 5 times a month lately! Phew! This is going to be an adventure. :)

Blessings to you as you share your heart!

  • Dana

I was intrigued by your 31 days button and so followed it here. I can't wait to see what else you have to say about purpose!

  • Alene

Kimberly and Dana – So glad you are here. It will be a stretch of a 31 days, but I look forward to all I learn. Being purposeful is about continually learning. :)

  • Connie

I'm looking forward to your insight and love that you are a mature woman blogger! I am in that next stage of life…almost empty nest, not working at this time, being grandma and needing something to put time into. So I am looking to live more purposely….

I guess we always struggle with a purpose, I do.

  • Kelli Williams Wommack

  • Edith

From the post, I think that you have a lot to say and I think that through a challenge like this, you will surprise yourself a great deal. I was thinking the same thing about myself, but I have been posting, may not be on the same type of topic but I am posting.
